Wuthikah Pun attends Centre College in Kentucky. Growing up and attending school at the SOS Children Village in Siem Reap, an orphanage where her father works, Wuthikah had a different life from many other Cambodian girls from the beginning. While witnessing great inequity in her country from childhood, she was extremely lucky to receive endless support and encouragement to focus on her education from her parents. From her earliest days in primary school, Wuthikah was a top student, has held many leadership roles in student government and graduated high school with an A on the National Exam. She began her studies at two universities in Cambodia simultaneously, exploring her passion at the intersection of International Relations and Finance. She plans to continue pursuing these two areas of study at Centre, as an ideal combination of fields to implement economic policies that foster sustainable development in Cambodia.
Wuthikah has already begun to put her passion for economic empowerment into action through her most recent community project, One Hope for the Whole Family. Taking aim at the cycle of poverty in rural areas of Siem Reap, she raised funds to help two widows create their own businesses to support their families and keep their children in school. After graduation, Wuthikah wishes to return to Cambodia to drive change through financial policy that will empower women in Cambodian households in the future. She is passionate about serving her country and hopes to become a role model for other young Cambodian women who all have an important role to play in the development of their country.
